Campus Safety Policies

Campus Carry

Under Georgia law (OCGA § 16-11-127.1), licensed individuals—including students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors—may carry handguns on campus under specific conditions.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Georgia Piedmont Tech publishes an Annual Security Report and maintains a daily crime log. These reports provide important statistics and information on campus safety.

Personal Safety Tips

Maintaining a safe campus requires vigilance and smart habits. Follow these simple safety tips:

  • Never leave valuables unattended in your car
  • Always lock your vehicle before entering campus buildings
  • Keep personal belongings with you at all times
  • Walk in well-lit areas and request a security escort when on campus at night

Vehicle Registration & Parking

Students, faculty, and staff must register their vehicles and display a valid campus parking permit. Permits are issued at campus security upon presentation of a valid GPTC ID.

  1. Students have two weeks from the start of classes to obtain a permit to avoid fines
  2. Parking fines begin at $10
  3. Unpaid fines may result in holds on grades, registration, and diplomas

Emergency Notification System

Georgia Piedmont Tech uses ReGroup Mass Notification to deliver urgent alerts via text, voice, and email. Stay informed about emergencies by opting in to receive notifications on your phone or email.
