About Dual Enrollment

• What is Dual Enrollment?
  • Dual Enrollment (DE) is an opportunity for Georgia High School Students in 10th-12th grade to take college classes in academic and career-focused programs that will count towards both high school and college graduation. Students in 11th and 12th grade are eligible to take core academic classes. Students in 10th grade are eligible to take CTAE classes only.
• What classes can I take through Dual Enrollment?
  • Students can take core academic courses and CTE courses that align with a pathway. For a complete list of eligible classes, please view the DE Course Directory
• Is Dual Enrollment free?
  • Eligible students taking approved courses receive 30 credits of Dual Enrollment funding through the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) that cover the cost of tuition and books. However, some classes may have additional fees or materials that are not paid for by GSFC. After 30 credits, eligible students may be able to use HOPE Grant funds towards their courses. For specific information regarding student eligibility and funding requirements, please visit GA Futures.
• Is this “real” college?
  • Yes, any course taken during Dual Enrollment is part of both your permanent high school and college records, even if you enroll with another college after high school graduation.

• What is Dual Enrollment?
  • Dual Enrollment (DE) is an opportunity for Georgia High School Students in 10th-12th grade to take college classes in academic and career-focused programs that will count towards both high school and college graduation. Students in 11th and 12th grade are eligible to take core academic classes. Students in 10th grade are eligible to take CTAE classes only.
• How do I get my IEP or other accommodation information to GPTC?
  • At the college level, students must self-identify in order to receive accommodations. High school accommodations do not automatically transfer to the college. For information about establishing accommodations, please contact the Office of Disability Services. Please be advised that accommodations begin when forms are completed and submitted, along with documentation. Accommodations are not retroactive.
• Is the GPTC calendar the same as my high school?
  • GPTC has a calendar that may be different from your high school. Semester breaks, holidays, and teacher in-service days may be different. Even if your high school is closed, you may still have a GPTC class meeting. Please make sure you keep track of the GPTC Academic Calendar and any dates and deadlines posted by your instructors in the class syllabus. Classes may be fully online, meet once a week, or meet multiple times. When looking at classes, make sure you are viewing the meeting times. If you are taking a class on campus, make sure you are factoring in transportation so that you can get to class on time.
